The Mission of Saint Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church of Canton, Ohio, is to follow the commandment of our Lord Jesus Christ who said,

“Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to all creation.”
(Mark 16:15)

We are called to witness to those within
and outside our Community of believers.

Through:  Liturgia-Worship, Martyria-Witness, Koinonia-Fellowship, Diakonia-Service.

We believe that, in Orthodoxy, we have the fullness of the Truth, and we have the great responsibility and the great commission to share it with all people.  All aspects of our parish must be seen as Apostolic and we, as Orthodox faithful stewards and faithful believers of Christ, are called to incorporate the Christian mission in all aspects of our community life and our personal lives.

Our Mission as Orthodox Christians based on Christ’s command is a 5-Point Mission:
1. Revitalize the faith of our active members.
2. Reach out to our inactive members.
3. Welcome those inquiring about our Orthodox faith.
4. Offer guidance in the continued establishment of our Church.
5. Establish outreach on a continual basis within our Community and Greater Canton.

In the words of Saint John Chrysostom:

“The most basic tasks of the church leaders: clergy & laity, are to discern the spiritual gifts of all those in the church, and to encourage those gifts to be used for the benefit of all.  Only persons who can discern the gifts of others and can humbly rejoice at the flowering of those gifts are fit to administrate and lead within the Church.”

We endeavor to keep the votive candle lit before the icon of our Patron Saint Haralambos, as did our parents and grandparents, perpetuating our Church into the future for our children, to the Glory of God.

With Love in the Risen Lord and in His Service,

†Rev. Fr. Nicholas V. Gamvas, D.Min., Ph. D.
